Lessons

Back in Kuching for a month++ now!
Great food and company is all I can describe Kuching.
Apart from that terrible weather!!!!

I believe everyone like me reachs the point of life where you realise that its time to get out of your comfort zone.
Up till university/high school, most people would have been living in a world where everything is comfortable and structured.
Your main resposibility since young is get educated and pass every paper in front of you!
(Note that i am refering to a majority of people, i understand that minority have other bigger problems than education from a young age)

Therefore, once you finish university/high school there really is no definite plan put in place for you to follow.
You create your own future!!

For me, it is a period of time where i have a lot of doubts.
There is no one to tell me which road to pick.
I am still considered very lucky as there a re a lot of family and friends that guide me.

A few lessons i have learnt for the pass 6 months of being unemployed.

Lesson 1
Planning is required, however not everything goes according to plan and we just have to alter to whatever is given.
Well, I know everyone would have heard of this lesson somewhere but i must really say it is easier said than done.

Lesson 2

Always seek advice from family memebers and peers.
Although they sometimes don't really give you an answer (the truth is they can't give you an aswer at all!!), it gives a lot more information than you can imagine and its up to you to analysis it for yourself.
Anyway, just to add on too much advice will also cause you to doubt yout decision more sometimes.

Lesson 3
Never look back after you have made a decision!
A friend told me this in Melbourne, a statement that should really be followed if not you will always be regretting your whole life! I mean who would know what is to happen if you had taken the other road!
Again, i believe this is also easier said than done, i guess its in the human nature.

Lesson 4
Comparison (Benchmarking) between peers are not always good!

Comparison in job hunting is sometimes good as you can share information on how the job market is. I think the best thing is that it makes you feel good! You know why? Cause everyone is still jobless like you are so you have nothing to worry about!!
However, the catch is this you will keep thinking that since there is not much success story in getting a job within a year than i might as well chill and the job will come after that!!
Deee......if you don't change your mindset soon you are half way out of the game mate!

Lesson 5
People around you are extremely important at this time!

This applies especially to peers from the same field!
As mentioned above, you compare yourself to your peers from the same field when it come to job hunting.
Has he/she got a job? What is he/she working as?
Therefore, the support and preassure from people around you will really push you and at the same time also a great comfort.

Anyway! That's it for now folks!I waiting for breakfast and its here!!!

Addicted to Gym

I am addicted to GYM!!!
Yes it's true!

Is it the sweaty blokes who are flexing their biceps, triceps etc that attracts me? or
Is it the chocolate abs or the super tone butt that attracts me? or
Maybe just the super cute guy at the reception?

Well it really is none of the above! (but i must admit maybe a bit of all but not completely! *hamsap smirk*)

I have no idea how to describe it, but it is just like drug, once you stop going a day you feel like something is not normal!

Anyway, my first love at GYM was BodyJam and Zumba (well are dance classes so they are similar).

I really love both this classes because i guess there always have been an inner me who loves to dance like crazy but where else can you do that without anyone staring and pointing fingers except the gym!!
You might feel like Happy Feet if its you first or second time but after that it's just real fun! No one really cares if you get it right or wrong!

BodyJam is basically just dance session from salsa to hip hop to rock and roll! You name it!!

Zumba is the new fitness craze since i think in 2010.
This fitness dance really works your abs and your butt!
They make you feel like you have a Jennifer Lopez butt!
You would never ever catch me shaking my butt or pumping my chest anyway except at Zumba!

People who attend are mostly ladies but man out there let me tell you, if you can dance like that in any of the classes all the ladies will freakin love you(especially Zumba, it makes you look exotic and hot!!)

Besides both of the dance classes i do cardio as well.
My favourite is the cross trainer!
Personally i can't really run, my heart rate shoots up like a rocket really fast and i can't take it anymore.
So this is more of an alternative and it actually burns more calories if you compare it with a regular treadmill (I compared it for myself before).

After about a month of dance class and cross training, gym become a bit dull (even if with super hot bodies running around!).
So i thought i give other classes a try.

The next class i picked was RPM.
I have heard lots of successful weight loss testimonial by cycling so i thought i give it a go.
The class looks easy but its a KILLER 50 minutes class!!! You will ache all over the next day if you give everything to it!
Look at all that super duper muscular and tone body!!!
Anyway, i have not been continuing to this class after a few times cause i don't think i can keep up but i really want to force myself to go.

After RPM, i found my new love!! BODYCOMBAT!!!
Did it once in uni before and felt i was a big fat pig trying to do Thai boxing, Kungfu, taichi altogether!
If you feel like exploding inside and want to keep your nice proper image in front of your friends this is the perfect class for you!
You can just imagine the person on your nerves in front of you and kick box him/her till he/she is out!! It works perfectly for me!

That is basically what i have been doing for gym.
My next target would be to continue going for RPM!
After that i would really love to challenge myself for BodyBalance which is a combination of taichi, yoga, Pilate's and some more.
I do not know why but my flexibility sucks that is why i have not dare to step into BodayBalance at all!!
BodyAttack and BodySteps is also on my list but maybe later when i have a fitter body.

Swimming has also been something i wanted to take up again.
I swam for about 2 months in the summer but stopped because i really hate that i cannot see anything without my classes (although i do have degree goggles).

My first motive of going to gym was to loose weight but now i am really enjoying it and do hope i continue to enjoy it in the future.
All for my health!!
Hope you guys enjoy to some of the introductions of the classes!

The maid is speaking up!

I freaking want to kill ppl sometimes!!!
Mince them up and make them into dumplings (my favourite in Melbourne)!
Chop them up and make them into soup base!
A carrot or two and an onion would make the soup sweet!
Or maybe simply just season them with salt and pepper and GRILL them!!

FYI! I am not your freakin maid!
WTF is wrong with you!
I did not cook for just one day in 4 months and you are freakin complaining!??
And if i do cook the same dish, i get the yip and yap as well!! WTH!
I am no contestant in MasterChef!

I do have a plans of my own.
I do not plan to be your maid and stay home to cook for you everyday!
I did not even said a word when you freakin did not cook for like a month!

Even maids get paid!
WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF!!

Sometimes i do wonder if you still remember i am one of your family members.

Break the rice bowl or not?

Hello peeps!

I know my posts recently have be all about life after uni!
and yes this one is too!!

Just want some opinion.
SO you all know i have been applying and applying and applying for jobs.
and i get rejected and rejected and rejected.

Well, i do not blame the employers, i mean they have a lot of fish to choose from in the aquarium and i am just one of that little fish in the tank.

In this aquarium there are my course mates and of course also all the other accounting graduates from other universities in Victoria. Besides that, there will also be from other states.
All these people that i have mention are fresh graduates just like me!!

So do not forget that not only fresh graduates are looking for work, there are also a lot of people out there we want to change their work or are just simply returning back to work.

Ok...i am going tooooo far...

My point is, since now you peeps know that there is a lot of people fighting for that few jobs being posted everyday. So here is the question.

Would you share a job opportunity information with your friend who is in the same situation as you?

I have been sharing it with my course mates up till now and do not know if i should continue to do so.

Somehow its like breaking your own bowl of rice if you share the information yet being really really selfish by keeping it to yourself.
Furthermore, i feel that if i share the information with my course mates i can get feedback from them.

But again, people will say that you should not worry as if you have the "thing" the employer is looking for, the job is yours!
Well, that's true as well but if there is less one candidate to compare won't that increase your percentage of being recruited?

So please, let me know your opinions.

Questions Questions Questions!!

What is the question that i always get these days.

"What do you do everyday now?"

I know everyone is concern about how i am doing, but i am soooo sick of this question i would just like to write it on my forehead so no one asks anymore!!

STOP giving me those "See i told you to go home" look!
It is my freaking career and who else do you think would be in a more panic state then the person herself!

Let me tell you in detail what i do on a typical day, so quit asking!!
*time and all might vary, just an approx.

7.30am Rise & Shine (if the sunlight streams into the room)
~Breakfast (consist of either french toast, cereal or boiled egg and a cup of milo)
~Surf the net or watch Sunrise with
Kochie and Mel

9.00am Job Surfing time (Crucial time of the day, my future depends on it!)
~See if any new job to apply, then apply apply apply! (Takes quite some time)
~ A lot of sneak peeks on facebook, dramacrazy....etc.. (u know what i mean)

12 noon Tummy rumbling time!

~Food hunting (either eat leftovers, meet friends, or sit at the food court and let my imagination go wild!)

2.00pm Borders time (Free books, me LOVE)/More job application/Drama time
~Depends where i am

4.00pm Habahaba!! Hot bodies here i come!
~GYM time! (If i have to cook i'll go earlier)
*For this purpose , let's say i have cooking duty.

5.30pm Cook away!
~I stir fry, boil, steam...whatever

7.00pm Dinner is served
~Nom nom nom...hmm too salty or no taste.

8.00pm Cinderella is on the job
~I'll give you a sparkly clean kitchen in an hour time!

9.00pm Mandi mandi
~A hot hot shower to end the day and looking forward to the next!

11pm++ Lights out!
~ZZzzzZZ (That's me snoring, hahah)

The end of U Sun's typical day!

As i have my e-mail alerts on my phone, i will always have to be prepared to open an e-mail which goes something like this:
"Thank you for your application for the position of Melbourne 2012 Graduate Program We appreciate your interest in XXX, and congratulate you on your achievements to date.
After careful consideration of your application, we regret to advise that due to the number of high calibre applicants and the limited number of positions available, we are unfortunately unable to proceed with your application
"

This will ruin my day and make me burn more calories in the GYM because i will go mad!
But again, i have been given prior notices by experienced seniors of this situation. So i just have to deal with it.

So if you are still in high school or uni or a job, QUIT complaining!
At least you have something that you MUST do, while i am thinking everyday what should i do today or thinking i should do this very very slowly so it kills time.

3 months later

3 months later after graduation and i say it SUCKS!

I have lost my focus, maybe because i have no focus at all.
I have no goals to strive for.
I have no dreams that i want to achieve.

It feels like being lost in the woods.
Misty and scary.
Any direction could be the right direction but the question is which?
There is no one to tell you but for you to find out.

Yes, there might be family and friends with you in this woods, but they will only be able to guide you.
There will be times where there will be pressure and confusions involve, then you must know that they are all only trying to help you.
At the end of the day you are the one who will have to make the decision and take responsibilities for it.

Some people might already have planted a dream in their hearts that they would like to achieve.

Not for me.

I will have to start dreaming now.
To dream a dream that is impossible yet achievable.
Doesn't make sense does it.

No more comments.
Feeling depress thinking about this.

You're Beautiful

"You're Beautiful"
A bit out of date, but this drama is pretty good.
Has got practically everything, comedy, romance and most important good looking people!

Left to right: Go Mi Nam (Park Shin Hye), Jeremy(Lee Hong Ki),Shin Woo (Jung Yong Hwa)
Bottom right: Tae Kyung (Jang Keun Suk)

Want a synopsis google it, i am sure you will find a lot of info on this drama.

Most interesting of all is that they sing very very well.
Lee Hong Ki is in F.T. island and Jung Yong Hwa is in C.N Blue.
As for Park Shin Hye and Jang Keun Suk i don't think they really sing but in this drama they sang really well!

Watch the drama and you will know what i mean.

Jeremy in this drama is a super duper cute drummer boy!! He is one of the few Asians who don't look bad in blonde!

Shin Woo is the understanding guy who is always behind the scenes..so sad..But out of the drama he is a very talented man. Acting skills pretty good for his first movie.
His english is perfect (this is what caught me) and the music he make is different yet something i would listen to.

Tae Kyung is the lead vocal in the drama with a very arrogant attitude. Weird hair style and fashion and has got eyeliners on. I would usually go "no no no" or "yuck" if i see guys like that but..........he makes them look soooooo SEXY!!!

Ok.Whatever. I sense 花痴妹 will come out if i continue on.

Anyway, have a listen to the songs in the drama, very catchy.
Songs from C.N. Blue (Yong Hwa's group) are also pretty good.

Queen Seon Duk

This movie is sooooo good!
It is either i have not been watching Korean dramas for a long time or it really is very good!
Watch it and judge for yourself.

This movie is called Queen Suen Duk.

Just to prove to you how crazy i am for this movie, i finished this drama in 4 days straight. This drama consist of 80 episodes (shhh.....don't tell my mum).

Every character in this drama has something that we can learn from.

Before 2009, korean dramas bring tears to my eyes but not after that, no other korean drama have really brought tears to me anymore after 2009.
But this is one drama that makes me weep without tears, if you know what i mean.

Just wikidrama this movie and you can find all the awards that it has won.

sad

Today is my final finals day!

I should be jumping with joy!
However, i have just passed up the most misserable exam in my uni life.

This is first time i have left a 10 marks question completely blank!
And bullshiting for more than 30 marks and i mean seriously bullsiting by writing whatever i know even if it is not relevant to the question.

So i am serious very sad...........

I sure do hopw this will be the one and only paper i pass up like that because i do not want to take exams in that hall again.

If i do see the hall again, it just means i did not graduate.

@#$^%&

I just notice something!!
It is already NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!
One year is gone just like that!!

In 2 more months i will be officially 22!!

My miserable jobless single no motivation and clueless life.

The next step

*long post. If you have time read and give your comments*

I have come to the point of my life where decisions have to be made.
There are so many paths in front of me and i have to choose one and forgo the others.
The most frustrating thing is none of these paths gives me a clear sight of what is ahead.

Just like after finishing high school, the question was so where would you be furthering your studies?
To me the answer was easy - MELBOURNE
I did not really need to make choose them, it was set right in my mind in the very beginning.

After 3 years, i am finishing university.
the question is what are you going to do after uni?

The is really one of the toughest question i have ever have!

Path 1 Stay in Australia and get a PR
This is the initial path that i would most probably take. take my PR maybe work for short term and in the long term is still back to Malaysia!

Reason to stay:
1.Do not want to miss this opportunity to get a PR (If i leave the country it would be very hard for me to return and apply for PR.)

2.Working in Australia of course you would be expect a higher pay (of course higher living cost as well) and less stress compared to Malaysia (9-5 job, maybe a little later but not as late Malaysia at peak times).

3. Experience (If i return, i will never get the chance to have expose myself to the working environment in Australia)
- i want to let myself know that at least i tried.

Cons:
1. Prepared to be jobless for a few months (this might take 8 months or more).
This is because will you are waiting for PR to be granted you are eligible to work but which employee would want to invest and train you when they are not even sure if you would be granted a PR. Furthermore, employees do know that the job you got when you have not obtain is only temporary once you have gotten PR you can get a better job and off you go!

2.Prepare to work in small to medium firms, start really small.
Going to big firms especially the Big 4 would be a very big challenge and i would say only the the best of the best can get in.I am not saying small and medium firms aren't good, it is also a challenge as an international student you already have an disadvantage.

3. Cost
This might really be a con but applying for PR is not free there is a cost. I would say the money is not a matter(If PR is granted, you can probably earn back the money in a month or two), time is.

Path 2 Go back to Malaysia and work and apply offshore
Applying offshore basically means i am applying for PR it is just that i don't have to be in Australia. This application will take longer and obviously cost more.
I recently got on offer from PWC Malaysia for a position in the tax department to commence work in 2011. For those who don't know, PWC is one of the Big 4 accounting firms, means top accounting firms in the world.

Pros:
1. Getting into a Big 4!!
Of course the idea thrills me!!

2. Home
The job is base in KL. But obviously KL compared to Australia is nearer to Kuching.

3. Malaysia is a developing country
Working at a developing country you will really really get the juice of what you are doing and will be becoming part of a team that is developing a tax system for you country!

Cons:
1. Working hours
The working hours i scaring me. Official hours 9am-5pm but people usually work till midnight or if they have to overnight in the office.
The most certainly pay is not incredible (approximately $2,200)

2.KL is no difference with Australia
If you say go back to Malaysia but not Kuching then there is no difference with being in Melbourne and KL.

3.Cost
The cost of applying for offshore is far more expensive, and imagine after working 2-3 years in Malaysia, do you think you will be willing to give up your stable job and move back to Melbourne and start looking for a job again (means being jobless again and not promising to get into another Big 4)?

Path 3 - Forget PR and go KL
Similar to the above but probably will not have the chance to go back to Melbourne anymore.
If it is true that in 2019 Malaysia will go bankrupt, i will only be 30 then, too young to die with the country!

Path 4 Forget PR and go back to Kuching

Pros:
1. Family
Obviously family and friends are there. i know my mum will be very happy. And Kuching will always be the best place!

2. no worries of cooking, washing, housework
Hhahaha...i don;t need to explain.

Cons:
1.I do not want to regret that i had the chance to work in Melbourne and yet gave it up.

2. Small Kuching
Not to say Kuching is small but i think the exposure is not enough. I would really love to gain more exposure before going back.

3. not doing accounting/tax
Going back might mean i would not be exploring my own field but doing other stuff.
Something i think i would like to but not in this few years. I want to utilise what i have learn first before doing other things.

In conclusion, you can see that i cannot decide at all.
Feel free to comment on what you want to as you might see something i don't!
